“There’s a secret that real writers know that wannabe writers don’t, and the secret is this: It’s not the writing part that’s hard. What’s hard is sitting down to write. What keeps us from sitting down is Resistance.” That quote is from a book by Steven Pressfield, called .
Resistance is what stops us each and every time we set a goal, intention, or resolution and don’t follow through. It’s the conversation we have in our head. It’s what kind of mood we are in or how we are feeling.
We don’t want to let our moods run our life, we want our commitments to.
The thing to know is resistance is sneaky and may look like your kids, your job, … even your broken car disrupting your plans. However, resistance is internal and it’s you and only you that is creating it. The more resistance you feel, the more important it is to your soul’s evolution. The more important it is for you to step into it.
If it wasn’t important and it didn’t contribute to you bettering yourself in some way there would be no resistance. That makes sense, doesn’t it?
If you are just starting to build your work at home business or up-leveling your existing one you may be experiencing quite a bit of resistance right now!
How can you prevent sabotaging yourself?
Be aware of your lack of discipline and the reasons (stories) you tell yourself to not take immediate action. because you are really tricking yourself. You’re not saying ‘I’m not going to make those sales calls today’ – you’re agreeing to do it tomorrow.
How to win over resistance.
1. Acknowledge it.
If you are on to something big, such as a new career, or tripling your profits, odds are you are going to experience resistance. Once you decide to step into the bigger you, it’s more important than ever to stay connected to your bigger picture and stay connected with the spiritual you. Resistance will happen.
2. Clearly recognize the voice of ‘the crusher’.
A turning point for you can be simply recognizing resistance popping up. Oftentimes you’ll notice the same type of resistance repeatedly. Mine happens to be my kids. Every time I up-level in some way my kids fall apart. They literally crash cars, get suspended, even in the hospital. I put myself in the position of having to choose between ‘being a good mom and being a successful business owner’. What can you do? Acknowledge and de-energize your resistance. Simply say “thank you for sharing – now on with the plan” and get back to business. You have to deal with it (sometimes you don’t) and just move on. on your goal and don’t let the resistance derail you.
3. Celebrate your breakthroughs.
Even the small ones!
4. Learn from breakdowns.
They happen to me a lot! The breakdowns can prepare you to recommit and re-energize to your plan. It’s ego vs. your higher self.
5. Anchor your vision.
Get grounded in it again and remember why you stepped into your goal in the first place. Believe and know it’s your calling. Regularly visualize it and infuse it with feeling to keep it alive and strong in your consciousness
Resistance is going to happen if you are stepping into your higher and greater self. There is no getting around it. To be a successful work at home woman you cannot let it get the best of you! Recognizing resistance for what it is and pushing through it is the only way to achieve your dreams. If you need help reach out for it.
